Silver Coin with the Royal Portrait-Airapot Mark

King Rama V ordered coins from the coin production facility in Paris. They were the royal portrait-Airapot (three-headed elephant) coins of R.S. 127, R.S. 128 and R.S. 129 in values Baht, two Salueng and one Salueng. However, before an announcement for use one Baht R.S. 127 coins, the first type, could be made, King Rama V passed away, thus, King Rama VI ordered the distribution of the coins during the Royal Cremation of King Rama V in 1910. These coins was generally called “Rien Nuad” (Moustache Coins) following the obverse which showed the portrait of King Rama V wearing moustache.
